Inspire change through sarcasm. Yeah, like that’ll work…

I read Jena McGregor’s article from Monday’s Washington post, How sarcasm can boost creativity, and the cogs in my head started to, well, get creative. Here’s my top 5 sarcastic comments to inspire greater creativity in your users:

5) No no, seriously, you don’t need to learn how to do it. The help desk guys just love hearing from you and every other user at least twice every day.

4) That’s right, if you just do it the same way you just did it when it didn’t work but this time bang harder on the keyboard, it’ll really make a difference.

3) Of course it doesn’t matter if you just enter jibberish in the ’email field’ of the contact in our CRM. I’m pretty sure marketing never communicate with our customers via email.

2) No, I’ve absolutely got all day to teach you how to do this. Being a ‘power user’ for SAP in addition to my day job is a real resume builder and I can’t wait to stay late to catch up on everything else I have to do. I don’t like what’s on TV this evening anyway.

1) Of course there’s no need for you to change. You’re so special and nobody will mind. It’s not like we just spent a bunch of time, money and effort to implement a new system so we could do things more effectively and efficiently or anything…

Just to reinforce the point, there’s this from the Onion News Network:

So with those as inspiration, do you have any sarcastic words of wisdom that you’d like to share?

Send them in, we’ll share the best.

  1. Really funny! Thanks for sharing!

  2. It’s an intuitive user interface once you learn how to do it!
